Winthrop’s online programs are designed for ultimate flexibility and feature a unique competency-based education (CBE) structure in conjunction with asynchronous learning and 100 percent online courses. The CBE BSBA online program requires you to complete a total of 40 courses for 120 total credit hours. Those who qualify may transfer previously earned credits and earn credit for professional experience to equate for up to 75 percent of the program’s total course work.

The first step in applying to the Winthrop Elevate CBE BSBA online program is to submit your application. Make sure you meet the following requirements before beginning the admission process.

| Additional Requirements | Applicants must be at least 23 years old with some college, work and/or military experience |
International Students
International students must have a course-by-course evaluation of their international coursework conducted by an independent evaluation service and have the official report sent directly to us. Accepted services include World Education Services, Educational Credential Evaluators and the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions. Students must also demonstrate English language proficiency with one of the following:
- A TOEFL score of at least 550 on the paper-based test or at least 79 on the internet-based test
- An IELTS score of at least 6.0
- Successful completion of level 112 of the Intensive English for Academic Purposes Program from an English Language School (ELS) center

Dr. Hannah Richards, Assistant Professor
Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Hannah Richards, Assistant Professor
Dr. Richards teaches financial accounting and auditing at Winthrop University. Her research focuses on how auditor turnover impacts corporate events and reveals information about the financial reporting system. She has a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington, along with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA in finance from Mississippi College. While working as an auditor for Harper, Rains, Knight & Company, P.A., she acquired her CPA license. For obtaining the second-highest scores on the 2014 CPA exams in Mississippi, Dr. Richards received the T. E. Lott Silver Medal.
