Online Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Special Education Intervention Curriculum

Our 30-credit, 100% online program offers two tracks for licensed teachers. Both tracks share 18 core credit hours focused on advanced knowledge in the most current and culturally responsive best practices in academic and behavioral interventions within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS). Each track has 12 additional credit hours that complete the 30- hour M.Ed. program.

The Intervention track is for currently or recently licensed PK-12 general or special educators seeking to provide better support to students with the most extensive educational needs through a systematic intervention process. The Intervention track’s courses focus on building advanced skills in intervention and support, including mathematics. You’ll learn proven, individualized interventions and assessment practices that meet students where they are and support their success in standards-aligned classroom settings. You’ll also explore the connections between research and educational grant-writing practices.

The Licensure track is for PK-12 general educators pursuing add-on licensure/ certification in Special Education and is focused on core competencies aligned to the Council for Exceptional Children’s (CEC) Initial Preparation standards in K-12 Special Education. You’ll learn to support students with various disabilities as you examine research-validated practices, including integrating transition, collaboration, team building, and family-centered supports across the lifespan.
