International Students
International students must have a course-by-course evaluation of their international coursework conducted by an independent evaluation service and have the official report sent directly to us. Accepted services include World Education Services, Educational Credential Evaluators and the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions. Students must also demonstrate English language proficiency with one of the following:
- A TOEFL score of at least 550 on the paper-based test or at least 79 on the internet-based test
- An IELTS score of at least 6.0
- Successful completion of level 112 of the Intensive English for Academic Purposes Program from an English Language School (ELS) center

Scott Amundsen, Ph.D., Director of Professional Studies and Associate Professor, B.P.S. Degree Program
Faculty Spotlight: Scott Amundsen, Ph.D.
Dr. Scott Amundsen is an accomplished educator and academic leader with a rich background in adult education, higher education administration, curriculum development and student advocacy. With a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Higher Education Leadership from UNC Greensboro, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to adult learners and innovative program development.
Currently serving as the Director of Professional Studies and Associate Professor at Winthrop University since 2019, Amundsen oversees all aspects of the Bachelor of Professional Studies program, specializing in degree completion for adult learners. His responsibilities include curriculum development, teaching, advising and recruitment.
