An introduction to business careers and the tools needed to obtain internships and jobs in those specific fields. Professional development and financial literacy is incorporated. This course will serve as a foundation for a student’s business education.

This course develops the knowledge and skills necessary to analyze, interpret, and use financial accounting data. Topics include an overview of the financial accounting process, fundamental reporting requirements, and financial statement analysis.

This course provides an introduction to the use of accounting information by managers to plan, control, and make decisions. Topics include cost accounting systems, cost-volume-profit analysis, budgetary planning, incremental analysis, and pricing.

The economic behavior of individual decision-making units in society with development of the concepts of consumer choice and business firm behavior under different market conditions.

Analysis of macroeconomic topics including the factors affecting economic growth, inflation and unemployment.

An applied quantitative methods course intended for business and related majors. Topics cover exploratory data analysis and data visualization, introduction to probability theory, sampling and sampling distributions, foundations of inferential statistics, and use of Microsoft Excel tools for data analysis.

A data analysis course intended for business and related majors. Topics cover confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, regression and correlation analysis, decision trees, and advanced Microsoft Excel applications.

Basic legal concepts and the role of ethics in business operations.

A survey course examining the fundamentals of financial decision making. Topics covered include: goals of the firm, financial ratios, time value of money, loan amortization, bond and stock pricing, risk and return, capital budgeting, and cost of capital.

Comprehensive survey of the principles of management and organizational behavior in all forms of business.

Communications theory and practice required in business as related to public speaking, individuals, small groups, and organizations; using technology for business and career communications, and written and oral communication.

Seminar in applied business, designed to integrate all subjects of business administration required for business administration majors. A component of the course will be devoted to the assessment of student understanding of the other required core business courses. Students will complete a capstone project that applies ethics, leadership, financial and other concepts covered in this, prerequisite, and corequisite courses.

Survey of principles organizations use in marketing goods, services, ideas, and people. A variety of projects and assignments using marketing concepts to help students see the interrelation and interdependence of various business functions and the importance of ethical decision making.

The course introduces data visualization and modeling techniques in a data-rich business setting. It covers the process of formulating business objectives, data preparation and study design, followed by implementation and evaluation of predictive models for a variety of practical business applications. The course takes ‘learning-by-doing’ approach with the use of the industry best practice technology.

The internship in general business provides opportunities for students to integrate course work into practical work settings. This course applies the academic and conceptual to the practical; students supervised by faculty, will work a minimum of 150 hours during a semester or summer term.

This course melds concepts of information technology, management and statistics to provide a foundation in managing and analyzing business data to enhance firm competitiveness. Concepts of information systems and the use of them to support management are presented. Technical foundations of information systems, processes for building, managing and securing systems, and systems that support management and the organization are covered.

Basic concepts of accounting information systems including both manual and computer based systems. Examines transactions processing systems with emphasis on internal controls and documentation, user support systems, and systems development.

This course focuses on techniques used to analyze accounting data, address accounting-related problems, and make decisions. It provides a hands-on introduction to select software tools that are used for data analytics by accounting professionals.
