Is Winthrop University accredited?
Yes, Winthrop University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate, master’s and specialist degrees. Individual programs have additional accreditations, including:
- The MBA program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
- The Master of Social Work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
What are the faculty’s qualifications?
Winthrop’s faculty members are accomplished educators and experts in their fields. Many of them also have extensive professional experience in their areas of instruction. Most of our online instructors are full-time instructors who have terminal degrees and also teach in our traditional on-campus programs. They receive additional training related to online instructional technologies and program development to ensure you receive a quality online education that makes the most of the online learning modality.
How do online classes work?
In Winthrop’s online courses, you will access a virtual classroom using the Blackboard learning management system at the times and places that are convenient for you. You will, however, be required to complete your assignments according to a set schedule, maintain contact with your instructor and participate with classmates using online discussion forums. Your assignments could include readings, papers and other applied projects.
Are all the programs fully online?
Winthrop University’s online programs are fully online, with no on-campus components or onsite residencies required.
The Master of Social Work program includes required field internships that you can complete in your community. Winthrop has a dedicated field placement specialist who will assist you with finding field work for your internship. For more information see the M.S.W. Practicum Experience page.
The MBA program does not have any fieldwork or residency requirements.
Do you offer benefits to veterans and students who are in the military?
