How Do Online Courses Work?
When you study online with Winthrop University, you benefit from the flexibility and online convenience of being able to access your courses from any Internet-enabled device using the Blackboard learning management system. Through Blackboard, you can easily access your syllabi and assignments, and communicate with your instructors and fellow students online. While you will have deadlines for your assignments and tests, you can complete your coursework and access your online lectures at your convenience, on your schedule.
To support you in your learning, you will have full access to the same suite of student services our on-campus students do, from online registration to advising, financial aid, library resources and career services.

Online Student Experience FAQ's
How many courses will I take at a time?
As a full time student, you will take one course at a time, every seven weeks.
Do I have to login at specific times?
At the beginning of each course, you will receive a course syllabus with details regarding weekly course assignments and deadlines.
What is my estimated weekly time commitment for each course?
The weekly time commitment required for each student will vary, but you should be prepared to dedicate 11 to 20 hours per week on average to your course.
Will I be able to participate in the on-campus graduation ceremony?
All online students have the option to participate in the on-campus graduation ceremony. Commencement ceremonies are held in both May and December.
