Dr. Dennis Dotterer

Ed.D., Ed.S. Assistant Professor — Educational Leadership Program

Throughout his career, Dr. Dennis Dotterer has served schools at all levels, with a significant focus on Title 1 and hard-to-staff schools. Prior to Winthrop University, he served in multiple state director roles within the South Carolina Department of Education, including human capital management, teacher effectiveness, and school transformation, and as Palmetto Priority director, primarily focusing on teacher, leader, and school quality. Prior to the state department, he served as an elementary and middle school teacher and principal.

His primary areas of research and K-12 level support focus on school improvement through effective leadership by supporting teacher efficacy, moving from evaluation to supervision through individualized coaching, video coaching, PLC-designed professional development, and PBL design and implementation to support equity in the classroom.

Dr. Dotterer earned his Master's in Curriculum and Instruction for the Gifted and Talented and his Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership and Administration from Converse University and his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership and Administration from Liberty University.
