Lauren McCoy, J.D., and Program Director
Lauren McCoy Coffey, J.D. is an assistant professor of Sport Management and Program Director of Sport and Fitness Administration at Winthrop University. She earned her J.D. from Marquette University Law School and has a B.A. in American Studies from Stanford University. As a law student, she worked in professional sports for the Texas Rangers (MLB) and the Milwaukee Bucks (NBA). Her research interests include confronting discrimination and harassment under Title IX, social media privacy and other athletes’ rights issues. Dr. Dan Drane
Dan Drane is a Professor of Sport Management at Winthrop University. He formerly served as Department Chair for the Department of Physical Education, Sport and Human Performance and Director of the Sport and Fitness Administration Program. Dr. Drane has 22 years of college teaching experience at Winthrop University, the University of Southern Mississippi and Clemson University. He served as the Assistant Director of the School of Human Performance and Recreation, Director of Graduate Programs for the School of Human Performance and Recreation and Program Coordinator for the Department of Coaching and Sport Management at the University of Southern Mississippi. He served as the Director of the Professional Golf Management Program at Clemson University. Dr. Drane lives in Fort Mill, South Carolina, with his wife and two sons.
Dr. Jinwook "Jason" Chung
Dr. Chung has been with Winthrop University since the fall of 2015, teaching various courses in the area of sport management. His research interests focus on online sports marketing, sport consumer behavior and media effects related to different people from divergent backgrounds and environments. Dr. Chung has numerous professional experiences as a marketer for different companies and events at sports organizations. During his free time, he enjoys playing sports such as golf, basketball and tennis, attending sports games and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Chung truly enjoys working and communicating with the students, supporting them to be prepared for the future career and providing students with opportunities to start their careers.
Kristi L. Schoepfer
Kristi L. Schoepfer, J.D. is a Professor of Sport Law and Sport Management at Winthrop University. Prior to joining the faculty at Winthrop, Dr. Schoepfer was an Assistant Professor of Sport Law for five years at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Currently, Dr. Schoepfer serves as the Department Chair for the Physical Education, Sport and Human Performance Department and oversees the successful operation of three undergraduate programs and two graduate programs.
In addition to her teaching and administrative responsibilities at Winthrop University, Dr. Schoepfer is a member of the Board of Advisors for the National Sport Law Institute, Executive Director of the Sport and Recreation Lawyers Association, an author in three of the leading Sport Law textbooks as well as a national presenter on sport law issues. For her accomplishments in teaching, research and service, Dr. Schoepfer was awarded the 2009 Marquette University Law School Charles W. Mentkowski Sport Law Alumna of the Year award and the 2016 Sport and Recreation Law Association Herb Appenzeller Honor Award.
