Steve Frankforter, Ph.D.

Steve Frankforter is a Professor of Management and Associate Dean for Winthrop University’s College of Business Administration. He earned his PhD in Management at the University of Washington in Seattle. He teaches Business & Society, Business Ethics, and Business Policy. His research interests include corporate governance, agency theory, stewardship theory, and emotional intelligence.

Melissa Carsten, Ph.D.

Melissa Carsten is an assistant professor in the Management and Marketing Department at Winthrop University. Carsten has taught courses in Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management and Statistics. Her research interests focus on leadership and followership in organizations and the role that implicit followership theories play in leader-follower interactions. Carsten has written several book chapters and has been published in referred journals such as Journal of Organizational Behavior and Organizational Dynamics. In 2016, she was honored with the Jane LaRoche Graduate Faculty Award.

Carsten earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from Claremont Graduate University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Nebraska prior to joining the faculty at Winthrop. She also holds an M.S. from San Francisco State University and a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Mike Matthews, Ph.D.

Mike Matthews is an associate professor of Management and Healthcare Management at Winthrop University. Matthews has published articles in a variety of journals, including the International Journal of Selection and Assessment, Journal of Product and Brand Management, Journal of Medical Systems, Journal of Rural Health, Journal of Healthcare Management, Healthcare Management Review and Hospital Topics.

Matthews earned his Ph.D. in Health Services Administration from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and his M.S. in Health Administration from Medical University of South Carolina. He also holds a B.S. in Healthcare Management and Marketing from Appalachian State University.

Cara Peters, Ph.D.

Cara Peters is a professor of Marketing at Winthrop University. She has taught Principles of Marketing, Advertising, E-commerce, Marketing Management and Qualitative Market Research at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Her first teaching position was at the University of Georgia. Peters then moved to the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. She became a faculty member at Winthrop University in Fall 2004. Peters has published in numerous conference proceedings and peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Consumer Psychology, Consumption, Markets and Culture and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. In 2010, she was honored with the Jane LaRoche Graduate Faculty Award.

Peters holds a B.A. in Management from Luther College and an MBA and Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska.
